Wow for Business
Here at WoW, we believe in the importance of forging those all important education business links and we work hard in making this happen for your benefit.
As a business, there are many ways to get involved and work with WoW to support learners, communities and, of course, yourselves, because todays learners are tomorrows workforce. It pays to invest in them! Added bonus of a big tick in your evidence file for Corporate Social Responsibility.
Businesses... get involved today!
How Businesses Are Taking Part
Currently, businesses get involved in the following ways:
Attendance at Community Links Sessions in Local Schools
- This usually takes an hour of your time plus travel to and from school.
- Usually you will work with groups of approximately 6 learners at any one time (we will brief you before the session and learners will have the resources. You just need to bring yourself and, if you have it, any promotional materials from work).
- You will, most certainly, leave with a spring in your step, feeling full of enthusiasm and positivity.
Attendance at Transition and/or WoW Days in local schools
- We are grateful for any time you are able to give to these sessions, whether that by an hour, half day or full day.
- You would contribute by leading a workshop in school, attended by up to 30 learners. We like practical sessions, however, some businesses give presentations to classes or year groups.
- Chance to promote your business to large numbers locally and it doesn’t cost a penny.
Resources
- Spend time developing resources specific to your business, in collaboration with the WoW team.
- Loan resources you currently have to the WoW team so that we are able to deliver sessions to learners, around your occupational area.
- Provide space within your premises for WoW to deliver sessions.
Sponsorship
- Some businesses choose to purchase the workbooks for a class or a school and the WoW team deliver the sessions. We promote your business on social media, on school newsletters, radio, newspapers.
- Some businesses choose to pay towards transport for a day visit to college, university, industry placement.
Video Links
- Produce a short video about your role within your organisation and send to WoW Project for use during sessions or to be held on our data base for online sessions in schools or, for our website (we will provide the questions).
Host a Visit
- This can be for an hour, half day or full day. We are grateful for any commitment of time.
- We will liaise with you before the event, discuss content/activities and support with sessions on the day.
Testimonials
"5. Superhero activity was fantastic and everyone loved the practical activities. The hairdressing in particular was very popular and the laptop activity too. The level of work was pitched well and differentiated to meet the needs of all students. The WoW team were really great with the kids and built up good relationships quickly."

"WoW Enterprise is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn entrepreneurial skills whilst applying their literacy and numeracy skills and they looked forward to the sessions each week. All of the children enjoyed getting creative and making their own business. Thank you so much for this opportunity for our children, they've loved every minute of it and can't wait to sell their products next week. I would say WoW was a success for my class."

"I really enjoyed WoW Enterprise because we could make things and learn things we've never learnt about before"

"Thanks so much for today's session. Really got the children thinking about their futures and how they can take control of them. I wanted to let you know about some feedback that I had from one of the parents regarding the homework. One mother who has twins in my class has told me how interesting and engaging the homework was. She also said that it was a homework that her children had been excited to complete despite being reluctant usually. She said that she saw it as a really good way to open a conversation about jobs and work."

"Wonderfully inspirational. Brilliant concept. I wish I had the WoW Project when I was in school."

"Thank you so much for the WoW project, the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have gained so much. Through your project, a 10 year old girl has already started working on her future career. In one of your sessions she researched her dream job of athlete, she developed a clear idea of what she needed to do and following the WoW session, she joined an athletics club in Wrexham. She is well on her way to achieving her goal of running middle and long distance for Wales.
Once again, thank you so much."

"Thank you for the WoW project we received this Year. The results have been outstanding.
After speaking to Year 5 about the project the results speak for themselves. We now have 9-10 year olds who have spoken to their families regarding future education and further education as a result of knowing which routes are required to achieve certain grades etc.
Not only did it open the pupils eyes as to what is available (the staff were amazed at all the possibilities) but the interview/1:1 session with people in certain professions was worth while.
We hope that this is something we can not only continue with on a yearly basis. But also develop ideas alongside yourself as we really see a great impact of the WoW initiative."

"I have enjoyed taking part in WoW Project and I am excited to go to High School. I know that I need to work hard and go to college and university if I want to be an inventor or scientist."

"I found the WoW Community Links sessions fun and interesting. Witnessing the children growing in confidence as they asked well thought out questions was fabulous. Very worthwhile experience for children and employers and a great way to forge education business links."

"Good links with the community have a positive impact on provision in the school. The World of Work initiative, when pupils meet people from different occupations, such as doctors, hairdressers and soldiers, is an example of how partnerships with the community benefit the pupils."
